To bring Christ to the community there is no better way then training the Church in how to share their faith with others.
I recommend The Way of the Master eight week training course.

I have my own personal copy of the full course with DVD's I will gladly lend this to your Church for you to evaluate. Alternatively you can contact Pastor Jonathan Stevens from Providence Baptist Church who has run this same course in his Church and the results are very encouraging.

Advertise, advertise, advertise - what we have to offer: Church building, church hall, times of services, report on services etc. in local papers. Take a more active part in Churches Together. Only this week there was a report from one of Trinity's Christmas services in the Fenland Citizen.

Hi John,
As we were not at that service we cannot comment and not everyone has a computor, it might be good to advertise what we have to offer such as the hall the Church, when we hold special services/ events in local papers, maybe working with other Churches to share worship and services together might also raise our profile in the general comunity. I feel we need to make people aware we have a website, maybe another leaflet drop around the parish or hand them out in the town?

Bob says that this week an orange was used to demonstrate the whole, meaning all of the (Church family, or House groups. in the context of Acts 6 v1-6 where the Hebriatic Jews outnumbered the Grecian Jews who felt their widows were being overlooked. It was demonstrated that if any segment "part of the family was missing or not joined the whole was not comlete. My point being how often do we as Christians not include or overlook others of our family intentionaly or by favouring others who we aprove of?

ACTS 5:17

Following on from the house group on Tuesday, I found the following verse very interesting.

KJV 'Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation'
ASV subsitutes 'indignation' with 'jealousy' and MKJV with 'anger'. If you look up the Synonym of these words, there is a difference between indignation and anger. Anger being much more of an agressive emotion and in my view changes the context of the verse.

I would be interested in others views.

I'm always up for a meal....Seriously, I enjoy our Tuesday housegroup for the fellowship and teaching. Although we study one book of the Bible at a time, (Acts, at the moment) we generally find that the teaching is relevant to today, and many discussions ensue. Belonging to a housegroup means support and prayer and I thank the Lord for bringing together such a diverse group of people. Thank you too, for Martin (& Barbara) for letting us invade your home each week.

I am a bit puzzled as to using Romans 13:1 (which I mentioned at last nights' Housegroup), in terms of justifying God's authority over the worldly authorities.

I think the advice from the housegroup leaders was to be cautious about how and when you use this part of scripture I can see how it is easily turned by non-believers to read as obeying authorities for they are automatically commissioned by God to do whatever they like which we as believers know to be untrue.

As for the group I think the focus is really good because its about Jesus first and foremost and we don't often stray away from scripture (what ever the pace of progress is?). We ought to have another meal soon though. What does anyone think from Tuesday Housegroup?

I agree with Rosemary, some people do leave it to other to do all the talking. However, it is sometimes difficult to contribute without interrupting and being rude.
